Law and the Society

Dear Sarah,
The Laws in modern day are created by the government and they ultimately have the authority to create laws. They were put into place to be our "bosses" to rule over us and make the major decisions of our country. But, when making the laws, the government that the founding fathers wanted was a government that ruled with the people in mind, and fairness. Now nothing can be completely fair but it is up to the government to decide that. It may seem like that is unbiblical  but in the Bible it does say that we must adhere to our leaders; but there is one catch. If any of the laws that they create are unbiblical and go against what God has said in His word then as Christians we have a duty to stand up for our beliefs and not follow the law that is wrong. All in all, laws are made by the government but whether or not it is Biblical or goes against our beliefs is up to us. We have the power to follow or break the law.

With what I know about feminism the main "causes" that these women are fighting for actually hinder us. They are so focused on being "equal" that they don't see that what they want isn't good. For example, if the things that the ERA wants to be passed gets passed then women will be able to be put on the front line for the armed forces. Some may say "Ya! Women deserve to be on the front lines just like all the armed forces men" but what they don't realize is that it puts the men in danger. Men were designed to protect women, and if women were on the front lines the conscious of the man would be warped. Enemies could use the women as scare tactics as well. All in all in blurs the men's judgement which will cause more men to die, more families to be broken because their husband or dad didn't come home. These women think that they are fighting for good equal rights but in reality they are only harming others.
Also, as a Christian not only would I say what that above paragraph says but I would also point out that when studying the Bible you will find that men and women are equals. The rules that God has set out are fair and just. He designed men and women differently and with different purposes but without the other everything would be flawed. When looking at all the other religions out there you will find that Christianity is the one religion that holds women up to high standards. That says that women are more important than animals and that they have a purpose. God designed man and women to co-exist, not try and one up each other! It's ridiculous that many believe that women are treated poorly or as the "weaker sex" because it depends on what you mean by weaker. Yes men may be designed to be stronger than women but when it comes to nurturing women have that down pat. But it's not about who is better than who its about living your life the way that God designed you.

Homophobic and Sexist? I think not.

I would respond to someone saying that all Christians are homophobic and sexist by using Lady Gaga's slogan "I was born this way." Every single person was born for a specific reason and purpose. God wouldn't have created you if there wasn't some plan that He had for you, and every single person's purpose is different. But something that isn't different is that we were all created in His image and in His liking, now if God wanted men to marry men or women marry women then he would have created Adam and Steve or Eve and Amanda, but He didn't. When the word was being written and the rules God set out were that a man shall only lay with his wife and no one else it was an even more sexually saturated world that it is today. The people living in the world at that time had no boundaries and they did atrocious things to the women and children. It was insane. So for to God to go and try and change to whole culture and way of people He must have wanted to make a point of just how important sex really was and how sacred it is, only to be shared between and man and women
.
So to Christians, it's not that we are homophobic its just that we know the reason why men and women were created and that the rules God made for us were meant to be followed.

As to the part the Christians are sexist, if you actually go through the Bible and read what a relationship between a man and women should be you will realize just how equally it really is. Both gender's have a specific purpose in life and both are to hold the other more highly than themselves. The men are called to love his wife like Jesus loved the church and women are called to submit to their husbands. But aren't the two the same thing? Jesus submitted his whole life to the church. Many people don't realize that some of the rules we don't even have to try at because its bred in us, it's the way God created us. All in all, when examining the Bible and truly understanding what it says, you will find that God intended men and women to be equals, but in a different way that most would assume.

Government and the Family

Sarah and Mark think that the government is not involved enough in the family.  What do you think should be the limits of government involvement in parenting and why?

First of all I think that Sarah and Mark need to re-think their statement that government should be more involved in the family. The government is meant to protect our rights as citizens, not in how we run our lives. We have rights to freedom of speech, press, dear arms and so forth, so who are they to tell parents how to raise their kids? Every single person on this earth has different values and beliefs and different things that they wish, or wish not to, instill in their children and the government will never be able to get it "just right" so that all religions, values, and so forth will be spoken for. Other than that, I think that the children should have a say in all of this. No matter how hard some parents may try, kids are who they are and think the way that they want to think; they aren't robots and we can't force them to believe in a certain religion, or certain values just by telling them that they "have to". It takes time to instill values in a child and it can only be achieved taking the time to slowly guide them in the direction you want them to go. Kids can't be told how to do everything, they need to figure stuff out on their own, it's how they grow and learn form their mistakes. The parents are there to get them through the mistakes and share with them the mistakes they made so that their children won't do it themselves. Over all, I believe that the government should have faith in the way that parents parent their children and shouldn't over step their boundaries; they have too many other things  to worry about anyways...
