Mere Christianity Question

God works through nature, through our bodies, through books, and sometimes through experiences which seem, at the time, anti-Christian.

I agree with this statement. I feel that God works in our lives in ways that we sometimes don't understand at the moment. C.S Lewis states that "It seems to us all unneccessary: but this is because we have not yet had the slightest notion of the tremendous thing He means to make of us" (205). An example of this from my own life would be when my grandpa passed away about five years ago. He was a strong, generous man that everyone cared and loved deeply. After about a year or so of struggling with lung cancer he passed peacfully. But a few days before he passed I was able to pray with him, to ask God to take the pain away and for Him to welcome my grandpa into His kingdom. This was one of the most trying times in my life and for a while i questioned why God let him be sick, why he would let my grandma be alone, and why he would let one of the men that I looked up to so much leave my life.
I searched and searched for an answer to this question and realized that maybe God was waking me up. Before this all happened I had a normal, easy life. Great family, great friends and God was kind of on the back burner. I think that He was trying to tell me that He is in control and not me, and that by praying with my grandpa I may have witnessed to some of my family members that I didn't know were standing behind me. I decided to lean on God from that decision I became a stronger christian. All that to say, even though it hurt and caused a lot of tears and heartache God had a plan for my grandpa, for my family, and for me.
